Tea Notes: Cherry / Toasty / Cinnamon

Caffeinated Tea Blend

For the September OGA Tea Guild member blend, a sweet and smooth black tea is our base for a toasty layering of buckwheat, a kiss of smooth vanilla, a dash of cinnamon, and a hefty helping of dried cherries for a take on a cherry pie black tea much like Coop's beloved slice from the Double R Diner.

The flavors and scent will change as the tea steeps, so be sure to take some time while your brew infuses to experience the journey.

Ingredients:

Black tea, buckwheat, cherries, cinnamon, vanilla

The tea bag contains around 1.5 ounces of loose leaf tea, the jar contains 3.5-4 ounces of loose leaf tea.

Bold, Unique, and Long-lasting

I got a small bag of this flavor with my OGA tea subscription... I VERY quickly ordered a large jar, because I had drank it so quickly that I wasn't able to share it with everyone I usually do... I really enjoyed this flavor, as it could be stepped twice and still have strong flavor. The first steep has a stronger buckwheat flavor, whereas the second steep really shines with the cherry. Like the caraway in the Second Breakfast blend, I was suspicious of buckwheat in a tea, but I was pleasantly surprised!

This blend is very bold and somewhat spicy so its not as "comforting" as some of the other OGA flavors, but its great to warm you up after a cold day, or to have after dinner.

This is some damn fine cherry pie

As someone who lives southwest of where Twin Peaks (aka North Bend, Snoqualmie, Fall City, WA) was filmed, I visit Twede's Cafe on a semi regular basis. I order their cherry pie every summer and I have it with coffee from my local roaster or tea from OGA. This tea reminds me of Twede's cherry pie and if Ash hasn't visited here, I'm impressed that they nailed the flavours of this iconic cafe's number 1 seller. I hope that I see this tea again next summer as it is a perfect addition to a lovely summer breakfast, lunch or dinner with of course cherry pie. :)
