Tea Notes: Chocolate / Caramel Popcorn / Spiced Apple

Caffeinated Tea Blend

Close your eyes, take a sip, and transport yourself to the magic and mystery of Le Cirque des Rêves. This black spiced tea, made in collaboration with Erin Morgenstern, brings you all the delicacies and delights of the circus in a cup. The brew opens with notes of toasty popcorn from genmaicha which mellow into a delicate grassy note as the black tea and spices take over-like a waft of air from the night darkened fields the black and white tents make their mysterious home in. A delicate swirl of smoke from lapsang souchong curls at the edges of the brew, reminiscent of the bonfire that keeps the magic of the circus alive. Indulge with notes of chocolate, caramel, and spiced apple as though you've got your hands full of delicate chocolate mice, caramel drizzled popcorn, and a steaming concoction of spiced cider.

This tea evokes the cozy embrace of autumn and pulls at the strings of nostalgia and longing for a world that is a bit more magical than our day to day. But remember, magic arrives without warning and you can brew yourself up a cozy cup any time you wish-no tents required. Don your brightest red alongside your fellow Rêveurs, and taste what the circus has in store for you.

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

An extra special thank you to Erin's cat Vesper for making an appearance in one of the photos!

The flavors and scent will change as the tea steeps, so be sure to take some time while your brew infuses to experience the journey.

It's like I was there...

My husband got me a jar for Christmas knowing Night Circus is one of my favorite books. I never knew a tea could capture the essence of a fictional place and just by smell and place take you there.

Hot Milk

1/2 regular lapsang and 1/2 night circus along with a splash of frothed 2%. Try it. The candied ginger is an amazing foil to any milk products and makes for a well rounded tea-latte. The toasted coconut lifts heavy in this blend, I could've sworn I was drinking kettle corn mixed with campfire.

I'm in a Library

I don't know how Old Growth did it, but they transported me to an old library with a fireplace, leather-bound books, and thick pages. If I knew tea could be like this, I would've dropped coffee long ago.
